SHA Shortlists 12 Candidates for CEO Position, Interviews Set for April.

By EoK Editorial  Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, among those shortlisted The Social Health Authority (SHA) has shortlisted 12 candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) out of 92 applicants. According to a statement from SHA board chairperson Abdi Mohamed, the shortlisted individuals will proceed to the interview stage, set to take place in the first week of April 2025 at the SHA headquarters' 10th-floor boardroom. The interviews will be conducted in two phases. On April 7, 2025, the following candidates will be interviewed: Kennedy Odhiambo Akello, former Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mukui Mwangangi, former Acting SHA CEO Robert Ingasira, Roberts Eloto Abok, Dr. Serem Kimutai Edward, and Wario Boru Tore. SHA, SHIF OR TAIFA CARE? WHICH IS WHICH?

From the very beginning, it seemed like a move driven by a lack of clear direction, causing confusion for both the public and healthcare providers. We were, told SHA would be the solution to Kenyaā€™s health challenges, but here we are, still struggling to understand its role, its benefits, and most importantly, its reliability. One can't help but wonder: Was SHA really necessary? Even from its name, is it SHA, SHIF, TAIFA CARE or what really is it? A health system that canā€™t really be referred to by a single name only for everyone to refer to it as they wish? Isnā€™t that the first place we got it wrong?
