MATILI TTI UNDER SIEGE: CONTRACTORS, OFFICIALS IMPLICATED IN MULTI-MILLION FRAUD

EoK Reports | Bungoma   Ramagon Construction Company LTD Directors  Matili Technical Training Institute in Bungoma County is staring at the brink of collapse following a Ksh 60 million corruption scandal that has triggered investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). At the center of the storm is Ramagon Construction Company Ltd, whose three directors — Abdi Barre Abdi, Hassan Bare Abdi, and Nagenye Mohamud Dahir — have been arrested and are facing a litany of allegations ranging from fraudulent billing to the illegal auctioning of public property. According to the EACC, the trio is accused of colluding with rogue government officials to manipulate procurement procedures and inflate the cost of a twin workshop complex at the institution. EoK Reports  | News Desk   Concerns are mounting in Kimilili Sub-county over what appears to be a coordinated effort by rogue cartels to cripple Matili Technical Training Institute (TTI) — one of the region’s most vital institutions for youth empowerment. Wanjala Sakwa, Ford Kenya Party National Youth Co-ordinator,has sounded the alarm over an alleged scheme involving a contractor named Abdi, who was awarded a tender worth Ksh 29.3 million to construct a twin workshop — popularly referred to as the China Center — at the institution. “The building was constructed using ordinary bricks. Anyone from Matili or Kimilili can confirm this,” Sakwa noted. According to Sakwa, the initial cost of the project was dubiously inflated to Ksh 58.9 million through suspicious variations approved by the institute's former board, despite the visibly substandard materials used in the construction.
