EYES ON THE PRIZE! WAKOLI SETS HIS TARGET CLEAR AFTER CLEARANCE BY IEBC...

Wakoli was cleared today by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to vie for the position. Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka was in attendance, with a host of Ford Kenya Party officials, Members of Parliament and a host of MCA's. Governor Lusaka promised a more vibrant campaign than what was experienced in the just concluded August elections. Hon. David Wafula Wakoli has today been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC to contest for the Bungoma Senate seat on a Simba party ticket, legally recognized as Ford Kenya. Wakoli was handed his certificate of clearance by IEBC County Returning officer, Mrs. Grace Rono at the IEBC offices today morning in Bungoma. BUNGOMA SENATE RACE UPDATE...

As the date set for the by-elections in Bungoma county nears, candidates are going flat out to woo supporters as the race to replace the speaker of the National Assembly tightens. Due to the expansiveness of the county with 1.7 million people, some of the candidates have improvised strategies to reach the voters by meeting groups in homes and churches. The tickets to watch closely are that of the UDA party and Ford Kenya due to the thousands of supporters loyal to the two camps. Ford Kenya candidate has been seen in the company of his party's members of Parliament and a few MCAs thus reinforcing the notion that he is a "Project"of the Party Leader Hon. Front-runners With less than two months to the by-elections, the race for Bungoma Senatorial by-elections has continued to shape up this week when the closing date set by the IEBC for parties to submit lists of aspirants interested in running on their tickets came to an end on Thursday the midnight of 13th. The IEBC staff stayed up to midnight to serve all the political parties interested in fielding candidates in the mini-polls. Independent candidates also submitted their preferred symbols late into the night. Ford Kenya and UDA had attracted a large number of candidates before but that was not the case at close of business Thursday midnight. It has emerged that out of the over five aspirants who had shown interest in running on the UDA party ticket, only one aspirant, Mr Walter Trenk Mukinginyi had submitted his application to the party.
