WAKIMWEI ELDERS ASKS WAMUNYINYI TO RETIRE, ENDORSES JULIUS MASINDE FOR SENATE SEAT.
What you need to know;
- Julius Masinde is vying for the Bungoma Senate seat on independent ticket.
- He has been endorsed officially by his Bakimwei clan which is also former Kanduyi MP, Wafula Wamunyinyi's clan to vie for the seat.
- The clan has agreed to back Masinde and requested Wamunyinyi to retire home.
Today, Hon Julius Masinde was the favored candidate as he hosted the larger Bakimwei clan who agreed to support him and vowed to market his candidature across all Bukusu clans and the larger Bungoma community.
In a meeting that was hosted at the candidates home in Bungoma township, the clan resolved to fully back Madinde's candidature for according to them, his vision is far better than any other aspirants' and for a reason of his passion in delivering a better Bungoma as well as the advantage of his young age, Masinde stands out as the best bet for Senator.
According to the clan, former Kanduyi Member of Parliament and DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi who is also a member of the clan and a candidate in the 8th December elections, Wamunyinyi should peacefully retire and give way to new entries that have been properly mentored with Julius Masinde standing out as the one but only option to them.
They likened Wamunyinyi's candidature to a person who failed to deliver at a lower rank but with greedy purporting to be the best when added responsibilities.
Wamunyinyi is like a son we sent to the Poshomill with one bag of maize. He fell on the way and unfortunately did not return back with floor (Unga). He then comes back home and is full of himself telling us how he will take good care of 9 bags of maize when one was a problem. We can't believe that and as a result we have opted for Julius Masinde.
Speaking during the meeting which officially took off Madinde's campaign, he vowed to perform his oversight duties to the best of his knowledge and asked the clan to be the first ambassadors of his gospel hope and possibilities to the people of Bungoma.
Masinde promises if elected Senator to initiate Youth-Engaging programs that will earn people a living to curb the high rate of crime witnessed in the county.
On Ford Kenya's Wakoli candidature, Masinde regrets that as much as Bungoma had over seven aspirants' for the senate seat, Wetangula had decided to force everyone to abandon their candidature in favor of his aide, Wafula Wakoli. To Masinde, Wetangula wants to control the office through the backdoor and could not find any other person suitable to promote his interest than his long term friend, personal assistant and office manager. What is Speaker Wetangula trying to hide from the people of Bungoma through Wakoli? He posed.
Masinde said he was among the first people who declared interest in the senate seat even before it was declared vacant. He confirms that it was his prayer for Wetangula to succeed as the National Assembly Speaker so that he paves way for him.
I think I was the first person to show interest in this seat. It was my prayer Wetangula succeeded and fortunately he did. I was expecting to vie on a UDA Party ticket but it is unfortunate that con games were played and nominations were not done. For the passion I have to serve my great county of Bungoma, I had to go and seek clearance as an independent candidate and believe me, I will bring home the trophy.~~ Hon Julius Masinde.
Hon Masinde argues that it won't be practical for Bungoma to succeed with both senator and governor dining on the same table. He drew an example of Kakamega's success story which he attributed not to former governor Oparanya but the their bold senators who ensured that was done.
The WAKIMWEI clan was quick to call upon all Bukusu clans to see value in Masindes' candidature hence their support.
The clan was led by its Chairperson John Simiyu Onengo, Clan Secretary Isaac Mafuta and over 15 others.
