Lies and Desperation Uniting Barasa and Wangamati Against Wanyonyi’s Clean Politics

The hashtag #BungomaAuctioned has been doing rounds online, especially X, driven by faceless bloggers and fake accounts spreading false MOUs and propaganda aimed at discrediting Hon. Tim Wanyonyi. But behind this digital noise lies a telling reality: a coalition of desperation, uniting Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and former governor Wycliffe Wangamati, whose allies have resorted to manufacturing lies as their last surviving political strategy.

At the heart of the propaganda is the false claim that Wanyonyi is auctioning Bungoma through backdoor deals. Yet, nothing could be further from the truth. Wanyonyi has consistently championed transparency, public participation, and accountability, insisting that all major decisions under his leadership will seek the direct input of wananchi.

“This is leadership that listens before acting, consults instead of imposing. That is what they fear,” a source close to his campaign revealed, dismissing the fake MOUs as a cheap distraction.

For many, Wanyonyi’s fresh approach has disrupted the old order of violent and transactional politics in Bungoma. His humility, clean record, and people-driven leadership stand in sharp contrast to the politics of rhetoric, intimidation, and self-interest that his rivals are known for.

Observers note that the propaganda campaign shows just how rattled the political class has become. 

“When you cannot match a man’s record, you resort to lies. That is exactly what Barasa and Wangamati’s teams are doing,” one analyst commented.

Wanyonyi’s campaign has hinted at taking serious action against those behind the malicious narratives, making it clear that fake news will not derail a movement built on truth and service.

As Bungoma moves closer to the 2027 elections, the choice is becoming clearer: progress over propaganda, service over self-interest, and clean politics over desperation.
