 What you need to know:

After the 2022 general elections, Wakili Bryan Khaemba looks wiser, not because he came second in the last elections but because he understands the political dynamics more specific in the larger Kimilili Sub-County and the interest from a pool of competitors with whom he wants to outshine all and clinch the Kimilili Parliamentary seat, 2027.

To Wakili, the journey began long time ago and it is not yet time to give up until "Kimilili gets what it deserves." In this article, we engage Wakili on a number of issues including one but the most important, his unending desire to represent Kimilili in the National Assembly.

Q1. Wakili What do you like most about yourself?

A. Everything, yes everything, I like it that I am that one individual keen to listen to anyone and everyone if I have that chance to do so. The most specific I like about myself is the fact that I'm from Kimilili. This is what gives me joy to be in one of the most beautiful constituency in Kenya that is full of genuine and good people, wonderful resources and many opportunities unexploited that pushes me always to be the answer to this among many others.

Q2. In the run up to 2022 general elections, you led a good-oiled campaign, there were a lot of expectations that you would have been elected the Member of Parliament for Kimilili, What really happened that you ain't the MP but the spirit is still very high?

A. Good question. I'll answer that in two words. "God's Timing."

In every competition, there's always a winner and a looser and so is politics but in this case, Wakili Bryan Khaemba as a person did not loose but the many supporters who subscribed to his glittering manifesto. We ran the race but at the end it went against us and like a warrior in any war, you don't give up until the enemy is defeated. To add on, I believe delay isn't denial, Kimilili will have me as their MP soon.

Q3. Wakili Who is the enemy in this case, is it the Current MP or your competitors?

A. That is the problem with most people, they tend to understand it differently but I will explain.

My enemy cannot be the current MP Didmus Barasa, neither can it be any interested party in this race. Infact, those running to compete me are and will always be my friends since they are the ones who confirms that there is unexploited potential in Kimilili that needs attention. Our difference is not personal but issue based and that is what democracy dictates. Everyone is interested to vie so they can use their specific approaches to fight the biggest enemies, POVERTY, UNEMPLOYMENT, POOR INFRASTRUCTURE like what the current MP is trying to clear up in most primary schools among others. Kimilili voters are wise, they'll interrogate the different approaches to come up with what they think suits a specific timeframe, one to confirm, they'll choose Wakili Bryan Khaemba's approach as from 2027 because they have the script with them already.

Q4. Wakili do you subscribe to MP Didmus Barasa's plan, and would you do the same as he does once elected?

A. I think the reason as to why I vied against him should be the loud answer. As much as I support his development plan for the people of Kimilili, I have my way of doing that once given chance I will show it out to our constituents. Our school infrastructure was poor way before but today speaking it is good courtesy of his leadership. We must thank him for that but as we do, get a way of doing the much work that is remaining which only Wakili Bryan Khaemba has a copy.

Q5. Wakili the word has it that you are already into campaigns 4 years before the general elections, is this true and if so why now?

A. There's a perspective that cannot be changed once it sinks in people's mind. One is of a politician not helping but always campaigning even when they are genuinely helping. It is unfortunate that I am at the center of that having vied in Kimilili and I can't run away from it.

Campaigns are way far from beginning and with the love I have for my people, I can't stop helping them because of what others will say.

For your information and what I want everyone to hear, after 2022 general elections, I had decided to just go back to Court and Concentrate on Law. The calls and messages I was receiving before multiplied, I silently read and some made me cry deeply and sadly. I realized that the people needed me more than I needed them for my parliamentary ambitions. I made a vow that as much as I have breathe and God gives me that ability to assist as He has given me, I will never stop helping sons and daughters of my homeland, Kimilili no matter how people will brand it.

Hon. Wakili Bryan Khaemba in a past function.

Interviewer: Your last words for the people of Kimilili.

Wakili Bryan Khaemba: "I thank the people of Kimilili for turning out in large numbers to vote in the 2022 polls. I believe everything that happened was as per God's good will for His people so they can prepare the way for the best that is yet to happen and that which will happen through my leadership by God's grace.

Let us support the current leadership to deliver the best for Kimilili and support them past 2022 as they get their interests higher. We are one people. God bless Kimilili. "
