Vihiga County continues to shine as a beacon of grassroots empowerment, following a powerful sensitization forum spearheaded by Vihiga Woman Representative Hon. Beatrice Adagala in partnership with the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA).

The vibrant forum, held in the heart of the county, brought together hundreds of micro and small enterprise (MSE) owners, aspiring youth entrepreneurs, government officials, and development partners with a shared goal—to unlock economic opportunities for the people of Vihiga.

“Our small businesses are the lifeblood of the local economy. Through this forum, we’re not just creating awareness—we’re delivering tools and knowledge that transform lives,” said Hon. Adagala.

The event spotlighted key national programs such as NYOTA (National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement) and KJET, which are tailored to offer youth and small business owners training, startup capital, mentorship, and market access.

A dedicated MSEA team led by Eng. Edward Karani, Dr. Caroline Kaua, and Mr. Edward Munoru delivered practical guidance on how to tap into these programs, while Mr. Maobe, MSEA’s Vihiga County Coordinator, hailed the innovation showcased by local enterprises as a true testament to Vihiga’s entrepreneurial heartbeat.

In a move that drew applause, Common User Machines—including woodworking, welding, tailoring, and carwash equipment—were distributed to selected MSEs, giving them a direct shot at improved productivity and sustainability.

County Commissioner Madam Florence Sitawa graced the event, commending the initiative and urging locals to take full advantage of the government’s support systems.

“Let us rise together. Empowerment begins with information, then action,” she noted.

With such initiatives, Hon. Adagala is firmly cementing her legacy as a champion for economic transformation from the ground up, ensuring Vihiga’s rise is built on the dreams and hard work of its people.
