Pelosi Slams Trump’s Economic Missteps: “A Self-Inflicted Disaster”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a strongly worded statement shared on her official Facebook page, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi has condemned former President Donald Trump’s economic policies, particularly his tariffs, blaming them for crippling the American economy and causing widespread pain for working families.

 “The Trump Administration's flagrant ineptitude is tanking our economy in a self-inflicted disaster that leaves hardworking American families bearing the brunt of the pain,” Pelosi asserted.


The former Speaker emphasized that Trump’s senseless tariffs are driving up costs, shrinking retirement savings, and pushing the U.S. dangerously close to a recession.

Pelosi buttressed her argument by invoking the words of President Ronald Reagan, a Republican icon, who in 1988 warned against reckless trade wars:

“We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends – weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world – all while cynically waving the American flag.”



“President Reagan’s words were true then and they’re true today,” Pelosi added, calling on Trump and Republican lawmakers to reflect on Reagan’s enduring wisdom.
