In a powerful show of leadership and grassroots mobilization, Vihiga Woman Representative Hon. Beatrice Adagala hosted the Wezesha Mama, Inua Jamii empowerment forum at the Mbale Municipal Grounds, reaffirming her commitment to uplifting women and families through inclusive socio-economic programs.

Backed by the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), the event brought together hundreds of women’s groups from across Vihiga County who received economic empowerment cheques, water tanks, sewing machines, and other crucial tools to strengthen livelihoods and boost community self-reliance.

“Wezesha Mama, Inua Jamii is not just a slogan — it is a call to action to equip women with the resources they need to build resilient homes and thriving local economies,” said Hon. Adagala.

The high-profile event saw the attendance of several influential leaders including Deputy Speaker Hon. Gladys Shollei, and Woman Representatives from across Kenya: Hon. Liza Chelule (Nakuru), Hon. Rael Aleutum (West Pokot), Hon. Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira), Hon. Esther Passaris (Nairobi), Hon. Rebecca Tonkei (Narok), Hon. Caroline Ngelechei (Elgeyo Marakwet), Hon. Prof. Phylis Bartoo (Moiben), Hon. Maryanne Keitany (Aldai), Hon. Fatuma Masito (Kwale), Hon. Doris Donya (Kisii), Hon. Beatrice Kemei (W. Kericho), Hon. Florence Jematia (Baringo), Hon. Ruth Odinga (Kisumu), Hon. Joyce Bensuda (Homa Bay), and Hon. Christine Ombaka (Siaya).

Speaking at the event, Hon. Adagala emphasized that empowering women is the foundation of long-term development and that NGAAF remains a transformative tool in bridging inequality and enhancing the quality of life for marginalized communities.

“This is what people-centred leadership looks like. When women rise, the whole community rises,” she affirmed.

The Vihiga edition of the Wezesha Mama, Inua Jamii platform marks another milestone in Adagala’s legacy of delivering tangible results for the people of Vihiga, especially women at the grassroots.

As she eyes the top county seat come 2027, her record puts her ahead of competitors by far. As to weather she becomes Vihiga Governor or not, ONLY TIME WILL TELL!
