“I Am Tim, Judge Me As Tim”
In a highly anticipated live interview on Sulwe FM today, Westlands MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi laid bare his heart and vision for Bungoma, officially committing his future to the county as he sets his eyes on the 2027 gubernatorial seat.
Introducing himself simply as “Tim,” the seasoned legislator urged the people of Bungoma to judge him purely on his own record, not through the lens of any family ties, past political alliances, or even his current party, ODM, where he is serving his third term as Westlands MP.
“I do not come to blame anyone for what they did or did not do. I come to do what I can as Tim, to take Bungoma to greater heights,” he stated with a calm conviction that left listeners glued to their radios.
When questioned on why he chose to meet MPs and MCAs before addressing the general public, Tim explained with humility and respect that even though Bungoma is his home, he could not “trespass” directly. He compared it to visiting someone’s home — you must knock, and only when they open do you enter. By first engaging elected leaders regardless of their track records, he honored the mandate given to them by the people. Now, he says, the door is open, and he is ready to meet villagers in every corner of Bungoma to listen and learn before finalizing his manifesto.
On the matter of political parties, Tim was categorical:
“Do not look at me through the lens of any political party. Look at me as Tim Wanyonyi. The party will be decided by the people at the right time. For now, the focus is on service and solutions I can offer as Tim.”
Tim also touched on his unwavering connection to Bungoma even while serving in Nairobi. He highlighted how he invested back home not for showmanship but as a genuine gesture of giving back and creating opportunities for local residents. He recalled a moment when a contractor questioned why he chose Bungoma over major cities like Nairobi or Mombasa for his projects. His response was firm and visionary:
“Bungoma too needs to grow. We cannot always look to the big cities and forget our roots.”
Discussing his vision, Tim passionately painted a future of a poverty-free Bungoma built on strategic development, equitable resource distribution, capacity building, and affordable education and strategic investments. While he carries a personal blueprint, he emphasized that his final manifesto will reflect the voices and needs of the people.
On whether he is a project of anyone, Tim’s answer was simple and striking:
“No. I am Tim Wanyonyi.”
Addressing his shift from Nairobi politics, Tim explained that zoning dynamics in 2022 pushed him to return home earlier than he had envisioned because it can still happen. The continuous calls from Bungoma residents since 2022 which have been growing over time solidified his decision. He believes that the blend of his Nairobi experiences and Bungoma’s potential can unlock unmatched progress.
On his socials, he posted after the interview;
I am ready to serve Bungoma. I am ready to be the pilot. Bungoma is ready to take off. #039
Barely a week since declaring his candidature, Tim’s name has become the most talked-about in Bungoma — echoed in markets, whispered in villages, and trending across every conversation. His potential is not just visible; it is electrifying.
Concluding the interview, Tim thanked the people of Bungoma for calling him home and assured them that if given the mandate come 2027, he will never let them down.
“Judge me as Tim, not by anyone else’s manual,” he reminded the county.
Indeed, as Bungoma looks ahead, one thing is clear: the conversation has begun, and the name on every lip is Tim Wanyonyi. For the top county job, only time will tell.
