Tears and Tributes as Tim Wanyonyi Bids Emotional Farewell to Westlands for Bungoma Governor Race

 EoK Reports |Nairobi

Emotions ran high in Westlands as women leaders and supporters nearly broke down in tears while bidding early farewell to their best and long-serving MP, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, who has announced his intention to vie for the Bungoma governorship in the 2027 general election.

Wanyonyi, who has served Westlands Constituency for three consecutive terms, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support he has received, saying it was time to respond to the persistent calls from his homeland, Bungoma.

“Westlands has walked with me, believed in me, and together we achieved a lot. But my people in Bungoma are calling, and I feel the duty to return and serve them,” he said.

News of his decision sent ripples across Westlands, prompting concerned residents—especially women—to seek an urgent meeting with the MP to understand his move. Some were visibly emotional, pleading with him to reconsider, while others asked for his guidance on the future political direction of the constituency.

In a heartfelt dialogue, Wanyonyi reassured his constituents that Westlands would remain close to his heart and promised continued collaboration between Bungoma and Nairobi.

“Where Westlands is today, it will be easier for the next leader to build on the foundation we’ve laid. I’m not abandoning you—I’m expanding the mission,” he said.

One woman tearfully urged the people of Bungoma to receive their son with open arms, describing Wanyonyi as “a professor and doctor of development.” Others, especially those originally from Bungoma but residing in Westlands, vowed to follow his political journey to continue benefiting from his transformative leadership.

Wanyonyi’s campaign message, #SiMimiNiSisi (It’s not me, it’s us), continues to gain traction online and offline, with growing excitement in Bungoma about what many believe could be the county’s long-awaited leap into real transformation.

As 2027 approaches, the spotlight now shifts to Bungoma, where Tim Wanyonyi’s bid is seen as a turning point in the county’s political and developmental narrative.
